A different twist on Felicia's Journey: Hilditch delays dispatching Felicia: he first convinces her to have an abortion (his perverse logic prohibits him from killing an unborn). I thought that Hilditch convinces her to have an abortion to see if he could get Felicia to murder an person (fetus) to prove to himself anyone is capable of murder. I just felt Hilditch wanted Felicia to do an 'immoral' act.
